Bio

Kirsten Malcolm Gatewood, Assoc. AIA,  has worked with Construction Management firms, Architectural firms, and Owners to produce viable Institutional and Educational projects through Project Management, a deep knowledge of Exterior Systems (including Metal Panels, Rainscreen Systems, and Dimensional Stone).  Ms. Gatewood has experience working in Architectural firms for more than 30 years, Custom Metal and Structural Metal Fabrication companies, Aluminum Composite Panel / Rainscreen Systems Fabricating company, Stone Quarries / Fabricating companies, and Subcontracting firms.

She has experience in Project Management, Architectural Design, Construction Documentation, Fabrication, Shop Drawings, Estimating, Bidding, Business Development, Contracts, Business Management ( managing employees, projects, accounts receivable and accounts payable ), Training, and Software ( including more than 30 years experience with AutoCAD, working in REVIT since 2007, and Take Off Software used for Estimating ).

Ms. Gatewood has worked in Cleveland, Washington, DC, St. Louis, and Kansas City.  A 1989 graduate from the University of Kansas with a Bachelors of Architecture, she has mentored and trained both Kent State and ITT Tech graduates in her firm.

Owning and managing her own firm since 1998, she has had the honor to work with firms and projects nationally.  She has served on the boards of both the Council of Smaller Enterprises (COSE) and AIA Cleveland, and assisted in Subcommittees with Planning and Execution.   

Ms. Gatewood appeared on the "Morning Exchange" in Cleveland on July 7, 1999 as part of a panel discussion about women beginning home-based businesses, co-directed the Young Architects' Forum in Cleveland 2000-2001, produced the YAF "Working in the Margins" multidisciplinary Art Exhibit August 2002,  was a member and active committee participant in the Building Stone Institute 2005-2007.
